0645 Meet for a 0700 Start
The Edale Skyline is a classic Peak District route suitable for people of varying abilities. It is most akin to the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in the way it takes on multiple peaks over a distance of 20 miles. Although the total route accrues 1,200m ascent much of this is loaded towards the start of the day, after which the route takes a more traversing line.
The route is a circular trail which starts and finishes in the village of Hope. We'll enjoy fine trails, grassy slopes, rocky paths and even some bog hopping! We won't however spend all day looking at our feet as there are some excellent views to be enjoyed, most notable those from Rushup Edge and down on to the Derwent Reservoirs.
Finally, and possibly most importantly, there is a pub at the end of the trail to enjoy a well-earned drink after what is likely to be 10 fabulous hours of hiking through some of the finest hills in the district.
This challenge is best suited to those with some walking experience and is ideal for anyone training for longer events such as the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge
