Pinnacle Ridge is one of the most sought after scramble ascents in the Lake District. This grade 3 scramble is situated on the northern slopes of St Sunday's Crag in the Ullswater Valley. It's large, fallen blocks create an exciting ridge in a fabulous setting, not to mention it's quite a long scramble by Lake District standards.
You've not got to be a pro-climber to take on this ridge, but previous scrambing experience is handy so you have some knowledge on how to move about on rock and know how you'll react to exposure. Taking on classics such as Striding Edge or Sharp Edge would be a great warm up (and something we can help you with!)
This experience has a maximum of 2 places, however we can arrange it on any date during the summer months to suit you, just get in touch.
Your instructor will be appropriately qualified to lead on this terrain (Mountaineering Instructor) and will provide all the required kit. If you do have your own harness and helmet you are welcome to bring it along.
The day starts and finishes in the village of Patterdale and will last in the region of 6 hours.
Pinnacle Ridge Scrambling Experience
As above, previous scrambling experience on terrain such as Striding Edge or Sharp Edge is ideal. Check out our Open Event scrambles of these ridges here: https://www.lakelandmountainguides.co.uk/open-events.
If you're unsure of your suitability please don't hesitate to call us.
In the event of poor weather your guide may need to choose an alternative route.
