The Lakeland 10 Peaks Challenge is a step up from challenges such as the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, and arguably the National 3 Peaks Challenge. The 17.5 mile route racks up a huge 2500m ascent over 10 peaks - in one day! The peaks included in the challenge are also some of the tallest in England, such as Great Gable, Scafell Pike and Bowfell. The challenge requires a good level of fitness, bucket loads of motivation andoodles of mental strength. The average time taken to complete the challenge is between 12-14 hours so an early start is required.
 
The 10 Peaks Challenge starts in the village of Buttemere and firstly heads up and over the Buttermere Fells. Once the first 3 peaks have been completed the next big objectives are Green Gable and Great Gable. A big descent off of Great Gable brings you to Styhead Pass, a real milestone in the challenge. The climbing starts once more as the Corridor Route is used to ascend Lingmell and then Scafell Pike. Great End is bagged soon after, and then finally Esk Pike and Bowfell. A long descent into Langdale via 'The Band' brings this epic day to a close.
 
The route is a linear one, so transport is required to the start point, however we can help arrange this.
 
This challenge is best suited to those with good fitness and a reasonable level of hill walking experience due to it's demanding nature.
If you have completed challenges such as the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, National 3 Peaks and the Borrowdale 10 Challenge then this is a great next step. Groups of all sizes can be catered for.
