Snowdonia Scramble Challenge with Experienced Instructors

If you like a good scramble and long days out in the hills then you're looking at the challenge for you! This unique challenge is designed to link up 4 of the best low grade scrambling ridges in Snowdonia in one single day.

Terrain: Rocky and Exposed    Duration: Approx. 12-14 Hours Walking Time.

Route Stats: Miles - 10  Ascent - 1627m.      Start Location: Ogwen Valley

Your challenge starts in the Ogwen Valley and soaring above you is your first objective - the North Ridge of Tryfan. Just 15 minutes of walking will bring you to the first series of small scrambles. The North Ridge is a fab playground and your guide will weave you through some of the challenges whilst making continued progress towards the summit of Tryfan. From the summit of Tryfan you'll (hopefully) get great views of the third test-piece in the challenge, Bristly Ridge. A fairly short descent down the south ridge to Bwlch Tryfan is undertaken and your back on the up. It doesn't take long for the scrambling to kick in again and you will make your way up this excellent and imposing ridge. Eventually the ground starts to level off and you'll be on the edge of Glyder Fach's summit plateau. The summit is reached and after grabbing a picture on the infamous 'Cantilever Stone' the route presents the first big descent. The trail heads down to Pen Y Pass which is the gateway to Snowdon. Here you will be pass the support vehicle and so it's a great time to change clothes, grab some food and also use the facilities.

Pen Y Pass is left and Crib Goch is firmly in your sights. After roughly 40 minutes of walking the scrambling is kick started again as you weave your way through steep crags to reach the summit of Crib Goch. The terrain now changes to a knife edge arete and the impressive ridge traverse awaits. Once completed there is still some great scrambling to be enjoyed onto Garnedd Ugain and shortly after this the summit of Snowdon is reached, the highest peak in Wales. Depending on progress there are a few options for the descent route but taking an exciting scrambly descent down Cribau is an option, or maybe the twin peaks of Y Lliwedd, after which the Miners Track is followed out to Pen Y Pass. You will be transported back to your cars in Ogwen at the end of the challenge.
