Blencathra Scrambling Day

🔺 Ridgetastic 🔺

A super day out with two returning chaps from the Garner Clan today. Our mountain of choice was Blencathra and as the guys like a bit of a scramble there was only one thing for it really...

Our day started with a quiet amble up Halls Fell Ridge to a busy summit. The views all the way up were super as always, it was such a clear morning.

Instead of doing our usual descent to Scales Tarn and back up Sharp Edge we actually descended Sharp Edge instead. This gives the 'exit ramp' a different feel than what it has in ascent, and then we managed to get across Sharp Edge in a bit of a quiet window.

We enjoyed our lunch looking down on Scales Tarn and caught some rays before walking back around the base of Blencathra to Threlkeld whilst the skies filled with cloud.

Oddly enough by the time I got home to Cockermouth it was snowing in Keswick!!

If you fancy getting the best out of Blencathra we have 2 places remaining on an open walk on Sunday 18th April, £35pp. There are more dates on our site and we can of course do bespoke days such as this one. Just get in touch 🙌
